Methodology

How SIFscan collects, processes, and scores data for India's Specialised Investment Funds.

Data Collection

All data is sourced from official, SEBI-regulated channels:

  • AMFI NAV API: Daily net asset values for all SIF schemes
  • AMC factsheets: Monthly holdings, AUM, and portfolio composition
  • SEBI circulars: Regulatory framework, amendments, and compliance requirements
  • Offer documents: Scheme Information Documents (SID), Key Information Memorandums (KIM)

Processing Pipeline

Raw data from official sources passes through a structured pipeline:

  • Ingestion: Documents and data feeds are collected on their published schedules
  • Extraction: Structured data is extracted from factsheets, PDFs, and data APIs
  • Normalization: Data is standardized into consistent formats across AMCs
  • Validation: Cross-referencing between sources to catch discrepancies

6-Dimension Scorecard

Coming Soon

We are developing an independent scoring framework that evaluates each SIF across six dimensions: Transparency, Complexity, Liquidity, Concentration, Mandate Clarity, and Benchmark Relevance.

Scores will be computed on a 0–100 scale using only observable, verifiable data from official SEBI and AMFI disclosures. No analyst opinions, no editorial judgment, and no weighting by fund size or brand.

The methodology is being refined to ensure it produces genuinely useful, defensible scores. This section will be updated once the framework is finalized.

Limitations

  • Scores are based on publicly available disclosures only. Non-disclosed portfolio positions, side letters, or internal risk models are not captured.
  • NAV data depends on AMFI publication timing. Delays in AMFI reporting may affect data freshness by 1-2 business days.
  • Holdings data is updated monthly from AMC factsheets. Intra-month portfolio changes are not reflected.
  • Scoring methodology is deterministic and rule-based. It does not incorporate qualitative judgment, manager interviews, or forward-looking assessments.
  • Historical data coverage begins from October 2025 when the first SIF schemes launched. Long-term track records are not yet available.

Primary Data Sources

  • AMFI (amfiindia.com): Daily NAV, daily TER, scheme metadata
  • AMC factsheets: Monthly holdings, AUM, portfolio composition
  • SEBI circulars: Regulatory framework, category definitions, compliance requirements
  • AMC scheme documents (SID/SAI/KIM): Investment objectives, mandate limits, fee structure

All data is sourced from official, SEBI-regulated disclosures. No third-party estimated or derived data is used without explicit labeling. See the Data Sources page for full details.

SIFscan scores are based on observable data from official disclosures. They are not investment advice, recommendations, or suitability assessments. Scores do not predict future performance. Always consult a SEBI-registered advisor before making investment decisions.
